Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Transportation Worker I to join our team at the State of North Carolina. As a key member of our highway maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our roadways.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a variety of heavy equipment, including tractors, dump trucks, and rollers, to maintain and repair roads and highways.
  • Perform manual labor tasks, such as flagging, vegetation control, and debris removal.
  • Assist with maintenance and repair projects, including carpentry, welding, and steel fabrication.
  • Operate power tools, such as chainsaws, weed eaters, and drills, to perform various tasks.
  • Work in a team environment to ensure the safe and efficient completion of projects.
Requirements
  • High school education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to obtain within 360 days of hire.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment and power tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
