Seafood Department Lead

Create an exceptional customer experience through outstanding service and establish a safe and clean environment that encourages repeat business. Direct and supervise all functions, duties, and activities for the Meat/Seafood department, supporting the day-to-day operations and embracing the Customer 1st strategy.
Key Responsibilities- Promote trust and respect among associates, communicating company, department, and job-specific information.
- Collaborate with associates to achieve company/store goals, establishing performance goals and empowering associates to meet or exceed targets.
- Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume, train and develop associates on performance of their job, and participate in the performance appraisal process.
- Cut seafood to customers' requests using proper cutting equipment, offer product samples, and inform customers of meat/seafood specials.
- Prepare foods according to food temperature logs and follow cooking instructions, developing and implementing a department business plan to achieve desired results.
- Understand the store's layout, create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management, and implement the period promotional plan for the department.
- Monitor and control expenses for the department, maintain an awareness of inventory/stocking conditions, and note any discrepancies in inventory.
- Schedule daily, weekly, and monthly price changes by updating shelf tags and promotional signs, familiarize yourself with country of origin labeling and regulations, and plan, organize, and supervise the inventory process.
- Train department associates on inventory/stocking and Computer Assisted Ordering, adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines, and ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are kept.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify store management, and report all safety risks, issues, and illegal activity.
- Effective communication skills
- Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)
- Ability to handle stressful situations
- Current food handlers permit once employed
- Possess adequate knife handling skills and knife speed
- High school education or equivalent preferred
- Management experience preferred
- Knowledge of cutting, traying, wrapping, and labeling
- Seafood experience
- Retail experience
- Second language (speaking, reading, and/or writing)
