Children's Mercy Kansas City is launching a novel partial hospitalization program to address the unique needs of youth with medical and psychiatric complexity.

The Division of Developmental and Behavioral Health seeks a board-certified clinical child psychologist to join our interdisciplinary team, which will include psychiatrists, BCBAs, pediatricians, licensed clinical social workers, nurses, dieticians, child life specialists, and teachers. This role will be instrumental in developing and staffing this innovative program.

We are seeking an experienced professional trained in clinical child/pediatric psychology with expertise in assessing and treating youth with chronic illnesses and complicated adjustment, depression, anxiety, functional neurological disorders, disordered eating, and other psychiatric conditions.

This position includes individual and family intervention, psychological assessment, oversight of the milieu to promote trauma-informed care, and group therapy opportunities based on experience and interest. Faculty mentoring is available for those interested in clinical scholarship. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in program development and leadership.

The positions also involve teaching and supervising in our pediatric medical and psychology training programs, including our APA-accredited internship. This faculty appointment carries protected academic time for service, research, and scholarly activities.

We require applicants to possess:

  • A PhD (or equivalent) in clinical psychology or a related field
  • Completed an internship at an APA-accredited program with a focus on child psychology
  • Relevant experience in clinical settings
  • Eligibility for licensure in Missouri and Kansas
