About the Opportunity:
The Staff Pharmacist will be responsible for interpreting, preparing, and dispensing medications according to physician orders. This role will conduct all aspects of retail pharmacy operations in accordance with state, federal, and organization regulations, as well as the mission and values of Vail Health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret physician orders for medications and prescriptions by profiling, preparing, labeling, and dispensing prescription medications from the retail pharmacy.
- Evaluate medications for dosage, route, frequency, and interactions, and provide care based upon physical, motor/sensory, psychosocial, and safety needs of the patient.
- Counsel the patient with medication information about the prescribed medication.
- Responsible for inventory control in the pharmacy by maintaining par levels of medications and aiding in prescription pricing strategies.
- In the absence of the Pharmacy Manager, ensure that day-to-day operations of the pharmacy are in compliance with the Colorado State Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations, and supervise and coordinate the Pharmacy Technicians' activities and duties.
- Assist the Pharmacy Manager with personnel decisions, including hiring, disciplinary actions, and evaluations.
- Professionally interact with medical and nursing staff to provide quality pharmacy services.
- Assist with budgetary process for the department.
- Role model the principles of a Just Culture and Organizational Values.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.
Requirements:
- Two years of previous experience in healthcare required.
- State of Colorado Pharmacist license required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Certificate or Adult Immunization Training Program for Pharmacists Certificate preferred.
- Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc. Must be comfortable with Microsoft Office and pharmaceutical software.
- Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.

Pay is based upon relevant education and experience per hour.
Hourly Pay: $57.36—$81.02 USD
