Job Summary and Qualifications
The Medical Laboratory Technologist is responsible for collecting and preparing specimens and conducting laboratory procedures essential for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases.
Key responsibilities include verifying, recording, and reporting laboratory results accurately and promptly for all tests performed.
Ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, hospital policies, and laboratory protocols, including maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of human physiology and the impact of diseases relevant to testing in your designated area.
- Adhere to laboratory protocols for specimen handling, processing, test analysis, reporting, and maintaining patient test result records.
- Conduct only those tests authorized by the Laboratory Director, ensuring your skills align with your education, training, and experience.
- Perform various laboratory tests on specimens, evaluate results based on established criteria, and accurately report/enter/verify results in the Laboratory Information System.
- Identify and address issues that may negatively impact test performance or result reporting, taking corrective action or notifying the appropriate personnel immediately.
- Document all corrective measures taken when laboratory performance deviates from established specifications.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a chemical, physical, biological, or other life sciences, along with relevant clinical laboratory experience within the last five years, or a Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory technology with clinical rotation.
- National registration as an MLS(ASCP)cm, MT(ASCP), or equivalent (e.g., AMT, AAB, HEW), or registry-eligible at the time of hire. If not held at the time of hire, national certification must be obtained within the first six months of employment.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with staff, patients, families, and vendors.
TriStar Summit is a 200-bed comprehensive facility serving the surrounding counties. We provide a full spectrum of acute care services, including cardiology, oncology, orthopedics/spine, rehabilitation, and women's services.
