Job Title: Optometric Technician

At JWCH Institute, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Optometric Technician to join our team at Wesley Health Centers. As an Optometric Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional eye care services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist Optometrists with patient care and eye exams, including pre-testing patients and managing patient records.
  • Perform tests to aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment for patients.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment, including pupilometers, lensometers, and autorefractors.
  • Review prescriptions and patient information, identifying special needs and consulting with Optometrists.
  • Measure patients for glasses and contact lenses, advising them on the benefits and drawbacks of eyewear.
  • Provide information and guidance on frame options, eye care, and ordering procedures.
  • Assist patients with frame adjustments and manage inventory of frames, equipment, and contact lenses.
  • Provide customer support and resolve situations involving dissatisfied patients.
  • Perform work accurately and thoroughly, despite time pressure and patient volume.
  • Handle and file patient records in an organized and efficient manner, in accordance with practice standards and HIPAA.
Requirements:
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • 1 year of strong customer service skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to assess priorities, address multiple tasks, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience working with patients and staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Bilingual ability (Spanish/English) preferred.
  • Optometric technician certification preferred.
  • BLS/CPR Certification from American Heart Association preferred.
