Job Summary:

The City of Concord is seeking a skilled Building Maintenance Mechanic II to join our team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for overseeing the upkeep of our managed facilities, buildings, and machinery. This includes making repairs, obtaining materials and parts, and pricing equipment for maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintains and repairs specialized machinery, HVAC equipment, electrical equipment, and plumbing equipment.
Inspects and installs parts and/or materials on electrical fixtures and/or machinery.
Meets and oversees contractors for general maintenance of the City's Housing managed facilities.
Prepares occupied and vacant units for occupancy by performing basic repairs and maintenance.
Inventories and orders materials and parts.
Maintains reports and daily logs of work progress.
Maintains preventive work orders.
Reports for after-hours call backs on a rotating schedule.
May perform the duties of Maintenance Supervisor in their absence.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalency and at least six-months of advanced study, with at least three (3) years of relevant experience; or the City may consider an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Working Conditions:

Positions in this class require standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, handling, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, climbing, vision, foot controls, balancing, bending, crouching, twisting. Incumbents may be subjected to extreme temperature, wetness and/or humidity, respiratory hazards, noise and vibration, physical hazards.

Preferred Qualifications:

Valid North Carolina Drivers License;
North Carolina Limited Electrical License preferred.
