Job Title: Paralegal and Compliance Officer

About the Role:

The Atlanta Beltline, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Paralegal and Compliance Officer to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our legal department, you will provide critical support to our General Counsel and Assistant General Counsel in various legal and compliance matters. Your expertise in real estate transactions, governance, and contract review will be invaluable in helping us achieve our mission of creating a more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable Atlanta.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal and compliance support to the General Counsel and Assistant General Counsel on various matters, including real estate transactions, governance, and contract review.
  • Assist in the preparation of contracts, agreements, and other legal documents, including construction, real estate, and trademark license agreements.
  • Perform due diligence for all Atlanta Beltline closings, including obtaining title reports, appraisal reports, and surveys.
  • Prepare timely analysis and summaries of title reports, and assist in the coordination of closing schedules for parties involved.
  • Maintain a database of all legal contracts, amendments, and contract Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) participation and insurance requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of Atlanta Beltline's Board meetings and Board packages for the General Counsel.
  • Maintain all Atlanta Beltline insurance policies and ensure timely payments for coverage.
  • Review final contracts and agreements for proper approvals, and manage internal routing approval distributions.
  • Provide administrative support to the General Counsel and Assistant General Counsel, including daily review of calendars for meetings and appointments, meeting preparation and coordination, and correspondence and documents.
  • Maintain the filing and scanning of original contract and agreement documents.
  • Solicit work from legal team to assist in reducing their workload.
  • Participate in various Atlanta Beltline team meetings.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with team members, board members, elected officials, and members of the general public.
  • Process invoices, requests for reimbursement, and other payment documents for legal services.
  • Support Legal and Finance Teams during annual audit and other audits, as needed.
  • Promote the Vision, Mission, and Core Values of Atlanta Beltline, while fostering a collegial work environment.
  • Understand the impacts of institutional and systemic barriers on marginalized communities and a commitment to integrating equity and inclusion throughout all facets of your work.
