JOB SUMMARY

Wood PLC is currently seeking a qualified Facilities Instrumentation Engineer V to contribute to our engineering efforts.

The Facilities Instrumentation & Electrical Engineer will be under the supervision of the Base Engineering Supervisor. This role involves supporting the establishment and uniform application of engineering and construction standards in the design and execution of facility projects. The engineer will work closely with various departments to ensure successful project delivery from initial concept through to commissioning and start-up phases. Additionally, the engineer will provide essential support for existing assets and act as an engineering representative for new development initiatives, which may include small to mid-sized projects, maintenance recommendations, and preventative maintenance planning.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with Project Engineers, Production Operations, Maintenance, Environmental, Regulatory, HSE, and other departments to effectively develop and implement facility infrastructure plans.
  • Deliver troubleshooting and optimization support for Instrumentation and Electrical systems to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Assist Project Teams, Maintenance, and Operations during the execution, commissioning, and start-up of facility modifications.
  • Contribute to the development of project scopes, preliminary and detailed designs, BOM generation, cost estimates, equipment selection, procurement, and construction cost management.
  • Create technical specifications, single line diagrams, schematics, and cable schedules, and work with Project Engineers to establish control narratives and P&IDs.
  • Provide electrical engineering support in areas such as Electrical Areas Classification, Arc Flash, Grounding, and Power Distribution Management.
  • Coordinate with I&E Designers to develop wiring diagrams, grounding plans, and control cabinet layouts.
  • Adhere to and support the Management of Change (MOC) Process, including participation in Pre-Start-up Safety Reviews (PSSRs).
  • Engage in Risk Assessment Evaluations and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA).
  • Monitor project progress and report on the status of Base Facility Projects, reconciling actual costs with forecasts.
  • Propose innovative project solutions to meet critical scheduling or budgetary constraints.
  • Lead the development of programs and standards for the maintenance of Instrumentation and Electrical equipment.
  • Interpret and implement Corporate & Industry Engineering Standards and Code Requirements.
  • Review deviations from Corporate and/or Industry Standards and provide feedback on compliance.
  • Oversee the sourcing and management of Engineering Contractors.
  • Support programming efforts related to PLC, RTU, HMI, SCADA, and wireless designs.
  • Exemplify strong SPIRIT values and establish recognition as a technical expert within the Business Unit.
QUALIFICATIONS

Basic/Required:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Instrumentation, Controls, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 5+ years of experience in the Instrumentation, Controls, and Electrical sectors.
  • 5+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Experience collaborating with various engineering disciplines.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary to support field activities.
Preferred:
  • 10+ years of experience in oil and gas.
  • 10+ years of experience in Instrumentation/Automation and Electrical design/construction.
  • Advanced knowledge of Technical Standards (API, ASME, NFPA, NEC, ISA84, etc.).
  • Familiarity with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) regulatory requirements.
  • Experience directing Engineering Contractors.
  • Strong communication skills for effective coordination with technical teams.
