Job Overview

Position Summary:

Support various Marketing and Membership functions in a collaborative capacity.

Qualifications (What You'll Bring):

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, communications, or marketing discipline required, along with up to 1 year of relevant professional experience in an office, association, or similar environment; college internship experience is acceptable.
  • Proven writing abilities with a keen understanding of audience engagement and the capacity to develop appropriate voice and messaging.
  • Experience in maintaining databases.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and a strong service orientation.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a passion for tracking data and project outcomes.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy are critical.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively, prioritize tasks under pressure, and collaborate with both internal staff and external members.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a proactive approach are essential.
  • Highly driven, results-oriented, and capable of optimizing limited resources efficiently.
  • Familiarity with various technology platforms.

Key Responsibilities (What You'll Own):

Marketing Responsibilities
  • Assist in researching, organizing, writing, editing, publishing, and maintaining impactful content for the web-based Content Management System (CMS).
  • Support the execution of marketing strategies and campaigns for organizational initiatives.
  • Plan and schedule monthly email newsletters for both non-member and member audiences.
  • Contribute to the weekly newsletter for Society members.
  • Update and uphold best practices for web-based content consistently.
  • Design, segment, and disseminate content across all Society social media platforms.
  • Assist with basic media requests for logos and medical illustrations and monitor the communications inbox.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Membership Responsibilities
  • Act as a liaison for membership inquiries while delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Assist in managing Membership and Student and Resident inboxes by addressing basic inquiries.
  • Support invoicing and dues payment processes, including outreach to suspended members.
  • Help maintain the database, including updating member records, generating reports, and managing linked platforms.
  • Assist in collaborating with publishers to resolve journal delivery issues and produce journal update reports.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Typical office environment with routine sitting and occasional standing. Regular use of standard office equipment and computers. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be necessary based on organizational needs. Some travel may be required to support membership initiatives at local meetings and the Society's Annual Meeting. Hybrid work model: two days in the office per month.
