We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at the Materials Research Institute (MRI) at Penn State University. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting world-leading research in the synthesis and characterization of two-dimensional (2D) materials, specifically transition metal dichalcogenides and related materials.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and implement new thin film deposition techniques and processes for the growth of 2D materials.
- Characterize the structural, optical, and electrical properties of 2D materials using advanced techniques such as X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and scanning tunneling microscopy.
- Collaborate with researchers from various disciplines to advance the understanding of 2D materials and their applications in next-generation devices.
- Develop and maintain expertise in MOCVD growth of compound semiconductors, oxides, and chalcogenide thin films.
- Present research results at technical conferences and prepare manuscripts for publication in leading scientific journals.
- Ph.D. in Physics, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, or a closely related field.
- Strong record of related research and experience maintaining and operating thin film deposition equipment.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team environment and collaborate with researchers from various disciplines.
