POSITION SUMMARY: This role involves the development, implementation, and management of Alcom's Quality Management System across incoming receiving, manufacturing, and final inspection processes for various aluminum trailers. The position also collaborates with warranty administrators to effectively address warranty claims, including root cause analysis and corrective actions. Oversight of multiple plant locations is required. The role necessitates cross-functional collaboration to define and establish quality assurance processes, work instructions, and quality control inspection criteria.

KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the plant quality management system to ensure compliance with all quality, regulatory, and compliance standards.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams across sites, including production, engineering, sales, and warranty administration.
  • Provide training and performance feedback to all direct reports.
  • Develop and document a Quality Assurance Plan that accurately defines the construction process for trailer builds and assembly applications while ensuring compliance with specifications and requirements.
  • Collaborate with warranty administration to plan and execute warranty resolutions and improvement initiatives, including the analysis of warranty claim data.
  • Create best practices for final inspection and establish criteria for quality standards.
  • Lead the development of Quality Control Plans for Alcom's product offerings.
  • Track, communicate, and develop Quality Key Performance Indicators for both shop floor personnel and production management, driving corrective action initiatives.
  • Utilize problem-solving tools and techniques, leading teams in root cause analysis and effective corrective action implementation.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks, implementing lessons learned and corrective actions to enhance overall quality and productivity.
  • Develop prevention plans for recurring issues.
  • Ensure that all plant training includes elements supporting quality and warranty processes.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory agencies regarding safety standards for trailers.
  • Occasional travel to support quality management and continuous improvement activities.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial, quality engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of quality management experience in a manufacturing or construction setting.
  • 3 years of experience supervising and managing direct reports is preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of quality philosophies, principles, systems, methods, tools, and standards.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing is preferred.
  • Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a sense of urgency.
  • Analytical problem solver with expertise in root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Certifications such as Green Belt, CQE, or CQM are preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; Power BI skills are also desired.
  • Experience in CAD print reading is preferred.
