Job Title: Senior FSQA Manager

Job Summary:

The Senior FSQA Manager is responsible for leading the Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) department in ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in our products. This role requires a strong leader who can manage a team of FSQA technicians, supervisors, and NSIS personnel in a pork harvesting facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement FSQA department programs and policies to ensure compliance with USDA regulations and industry standards.
  • Lead and monitor food safety and quality assurance programs, including HACCP and GMP audits.
  • Communicate with operations management, purchasing, and raw material suppliers regarding product quality deviations and supplier audit information.
  • Investigate quality complaints, document, and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Provide guidance to supervisors regarding product dispositions and ensure timely release of products on hold.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional management teams and participate in third-party customer audits.
  • Direct reports include all FSQA Department Technicians, FSQA Supervisors, and NSIS personnel.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (food or meat science) or four plus years of experience in the meat industry with an emphasis in pork.
  • Well-developed management skills and experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Strong analytical and metric-based skills, with the ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations.
Physical Demands:

The employee is frequently required to talk or hear, sit, and use a computer for extended periods. The employee must be able to stand, walk, move about the facility, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
