Optometric Ophthalmic Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Optometric Ophthalmic Tech to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As an Optometric Ophthalmic Tech, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our ophthalmologists in delivering high-quality eye care services.

• Prepare exam rooms and work areas, including cleaning, stocking, and ordering supplies.
• Assist patients with ordering and dispensing glasses and contact lenses.
• Perform basic diagnostic tests and visual screenings, such as visual field/acuity, tonometry/glaucoma pressures/applanations, and topography.
• Document and communicate accurate and timely information regarding patient conditions.
• Assist with scheduling patients for post-operative, surgery, and specialist appointments.
• May assist the ophthalmologist with basic or routine surgical procedures and post-operative care or treatment.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
• High School Graduate.
• No experience required.

• Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
• Demonstrates a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft office products, electronic mail, and electronic medical records systems.

This role requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders frequently throughout the workday. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. without assistance. Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch. Will be exposed to mechanical, radiation, electrical, and chemical hazards, as well as blood and body fluids, and must wear protective clothing or equipment as necessary.
