Optometric Ophthalmic Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Optometric Ophthalmic Tech to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As an Optometric Ophthalmic Tech, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our ophthalmologists in delivering high-quality eye care services.

• Prepare exam rooms and work areas, including cleaning, stocking, and ordering supplies.
• Assist patients with ordering and dispensing glasses and contact lenses.
• Perform basic diagnostic tests and visual screenings, such as visual field/acuity, tonometry/glaucoma pressures/applanations, topography, color vision testing, lensometry, blood pressure, pupil testing, and scribing and measurement of the cornea using a keratometer.
• Assist with scheduling patients for post-operative, surgery, and specialist appointments.
• May assist the ophthalmologist with basic or routine surgical procedures and post-operative care or treatment.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
• High School Graduate.
• No experience required.

This role requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders frequently throughout the workday. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. without assistance. Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch. Will be exposed to mechanical, radiation, electrical, and chemical hazards as well as blood and body fluids.
