Job Description

As a Certified Nurse Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in a dynamic and supportive environment. Your primary responsibility will be to assist patients with their daily activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Provide equipment and supplies for oral and personal hygiene, as needed.
  • Prepare patients for meals, snacks, and liquids, and assist with feeding, as necessary.
  • Assist the healthcare team in conducting physical and psychological assessments of patients.
  • Accurately measure and record patients' vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, height, weight, intake/output, and bowel movements.
  • Collect specimens, such as urine, feces, and sputum, as required.
  • Report any changes in patients' conditions, treatment results, or patient/family concerns to the registered professional nurse.
  • Perform Grade I decubitus care, including turning, positioning, and heel evaluation techniques.
  • Provide constant observation for patients requiring increased security to prevent harmful behavior.
  • Participate in the healthcare team's responsibility to ensure patient safety.
  • Promptly respond to patients' call bells and emergency lights.
  • Recognize and correct unsafe acts or conditions, as appropriate.
  • Use side rails, restraints, Geri chairs, and position patients appropriately.
  • Transport patients safely and efficiently.
  • Respond to fire, evacuation, and internal/external emergencies and drills.
  • Function effectively within the organizational structure.
  • Perform related duties, as required.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Successful completion of a Nurse Assistant Program, required.
  • Certification by the New York State Department of Health, required.
  • Minimum of one year of direct patient care experience in a hospital, rehab, or sub-acute facility, required.
  • Heart Saver Certification, preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively.
