Role Overview:
As an Outpatient Pharmacy Support Specialist, you will work under the guidance of licensed pharmacists and pharmacy management. Your responsibilities will encompass all technical elements of prescription processing, fulfillment, and patient engagement, including prior authorizations, treatment authorization requests (TARs), service authorization requests (SARs), financial assistance, and coordination of prescriptions.
Work Schedule:
Flexible hours tailored to departmental requirements, which may include weekends and holidays.
Compensation:
Competitive hourly wage, with union representation and a salary structure based on experience.
Qualifications:
- Valid California Pharmacy Technician license is mandatory.
- Proficiency in pharmaceutical calculations is essential.
- Familiarity with both generic and brand-name medications, including their dosage forms, and the ability to recall common medications from memory.
- Understanding of medical terminology and pharmaceutical abbreviations.
- Competence in preparing intravenous solutions using sterile techniques.
- Ability to work autonomously and complete tasks with minimal oversight.
- Proficient in electronic medication order entry and related computer tasks, including generating reports.
- Strong verbal and telephone communication skills to interact effectively with pharmacists, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Physical capability to lift up to 25 lbs and push up to 50 lbs.
