We are seeking a highly skilled Catastrophe Risk Analyst to join our team at Explorer Insurance. As a Catastrophe Risk Analyst, you will play a critical role in helping us understand and manage our exposure to catastrophes, primarily focusing on earthquake and flood risk.
Key Responsibilities- Quantify the company's exposure to catastrophe risk by designing, building, and managing catastrophe risk portfolio aggregations, data quality, and modeled loss estimates.
- Work with catastrophe model vendors to install and upgrade catastrophe model software.
- Provide estimates to the Finance Department and management regarding financial rating agency capital requirements and the company's current catastrophe risk profile.
- Assist the Actuarial Department in supporting documentation for state regulatory rate filings.
- Research and mathematically quantify catastrophe-related non-modeled risks.
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, with a major or emphasis in STEM preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Preferred: Passed actuarial exams, industry-specific certifications, or role-specific certifications.
- Experience with SQL, SAS, VBA, AWS, RiskLink, Touchstone, or RQE is preferred.
