Position Overview

The Nutritional Services Cook is responsible for the preparation and delivery of wholesome meals in accordance with established dietary guidelines. This role involves overseeing food handling practices, meal preparation, service, and sanitation protocols to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve meals tailored to specific dietary requirements as prescribed by healthcare professionals.
  • Adhere to planned menus while being flexible to accommodate necessary adjustments.
  • Communicate any menu alterations to the supervisory team promptly.
  • Respect and fulfill special meal requests from residents within the framework of their dietary restrictions.
  • Ensure strict adherence to menu specifications, making appropriate substitutions when necessary and documenting these changes.
  • Implement safety and hygiene practices to guarantee that all food served is prepared in a clean and safe environment, maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Follow the cleaning protocols as outlined by the Food Service Manager.
  • Inform the Food Service Manager regarding any needs for food, supplies, or equipment.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or unsafe conditions to the Food Service Manager without delay.
  • Collaborate with Dietary Aides and Dishwashers to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and assist as required.
Qualifications
  • Must meet the legal age requirements for employment.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and execute recipe instructions, dietary orders, and job assignments.
  • Effective communication skills in English to interact with residents and team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage tactfully with staff, residents, families, visitors, and regulatory personnel.
  • Education: Entry Level (0-2 years)
  • Experience: High School Diploma or GED is required.
