As a Family Case Manager, you will serve as a specialist in social services within the Department of Child Services. Your responsibilities will include safeguarding families and children from neglect or abuse, facilitating family reunification when possible, and ensuring a stable home or independent living for children who cannot be reunited with their families.
Compensation Overview:
The starting salary for this position is generally $47,320.00, with potential adjustments based on education and experience.
A Typical Day:In this position, your duties will encompass:
- Conducting thorough investigations into reported incidents of child abuse or neglect, validating claims, and recommending appropriate actions.
- Assessing the level of risk to children and implementing necessary protective measures, including removing them from harmful situations.
- Performing needs assessments for families and children in crisis, developing treatment plans, and collaborating with community resources.
- Preparing documentation, maintaining case files, and engaging with families to assist them in achieving self-sufficiency and a safe living environment.
- Working on family reunification, adoption, or independent living strategies for children in out-of-home placements.
- Monitoring service providers to ensure compliance with case plans and conducting home studies for adoption placements.
- Being available for on-call duties to investigate allegations of child abuse or neglect as required.
- Collecting and analyzing data to identify trends and effectively address the needs of families and children.

Qualifications for Success:To be eligible for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Fulfill specific education/experience requirements, such as a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in human services.
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of social work principles, child protection laws, and related services.
- Demonstrate the ability to conduct thorough investigations, prepare reports, and work effectively with diverse families and individuals.
- Exhibit strong judgment and crisis management skills, particularly in sensitive situations.
Additionally, you must maintain a valid driver's license to continue your employment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:This role may involve supervisory duties based on agency requirements.
