Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Reimbursement Technician to join our team at Richmond Behavioral Health Authority. As a Reimbursement Technician, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate submission of medical and behavioral health claims, ensuring compliance with policies and guidelines outlined in the contract terms and fee schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Submit timely and accurate claims to payors for all services provided, verifying services are correctly authorized and authorization is attached to the claims.
  • Evaluate payments received for correctness and apply them accurately in our billing system, ensuring secondary and patient bills are processed in a timely fashion.
  • Follow up on claims submitted to ensure prompt and timely payment, notifying the Reimbursement Supervisor if there are overpayments and/or duplicate payments for the same service.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and guidelines outlined in the contract terms and fee schedule, following HIPPA guidelines when accessing and sharing patient information to maintain patient and business confidentiality.
Requirements
  • Basic level skill in Microsoft Excel, including opening a workbook, inserting a row, selecting font style and size, formatting cells as currency, using copy, paste and save functions, aligning text, selecting cells, renaming a worksheet, inserting a column, selecting a chart style, inserting a worksheet, setting margins, selecting page orientation, using spell check, and/or printing worksheets.
  • Basic level skill in Microsoft Word, including opening a document, cutting, pasting, and aligning text, selecting font type and size, changing margins and column width, sorting, inserting bullets, pictures, and dates, using find and replace, undo, spell check, track changes, review pane, and/or print functions.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years medical reimbursement and billing experience.
