DEPARTMENT: Grain Operations

EEO Classification: Operative (semi-skilled)

Primary Objective: Ensure the safe and effective functioning of grain handling equipment and staff.

General Overview: Manage the receiving, shipping, monitoring, blending, conditioning, and quality of grain while ensuring equipment is maintained in working order, adhering to all company, state, and federal regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ensure compliance with safety standards through regular inspections and reporting of unsafe conditions.
  2. Adhere to all state and federal transportation regulations.
  3. Understand and implement all company policies and procedures.
  4. Operate all machinery and vehicles in accordance with company policies and local, state, and federal laws.
  5. Support the preventive maintenance program and document all activities.
  6. Assist in coordinating grain receiving operations and segregation.
  7. Oversee outside contractors and ensure proper documentation.
  8. Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of the facility grounds.
  9. Monitor temperature controls, fan usage, and grain storage to ensure high-quality inventory.
  10. Communicate daily with the facility manager regarding activities, goals, and needs.
  11. Lead initiatives related to grain quality, inventory management, and safety compliance.
  12. Document maintenance and housekeeping records accurately.
  13. Ensure the facility is well-maintained and operational.
  14. Understand inventory management and measurement processes.
  15. Work flexible hours, including potential overtime, to fulfill responsibilities.
  16. Assist in facility improvements and capital projects.
  17. Set and pursue personal and location-specific improvement goals.
  18. Foster teamwork and collaboration within the organization.
  19. Efficiently manage grain receiving and disbursement.
  20. Operate control rooms and grain dryers.
  21. Perform essential operations to maintain safe and efficient facility operations.
  22. Maintain the overall appearance of the facility, including buildings and grounds.
  23. Work effectively in a grain handling environment.
  24. Operate heavy machinery and equipment as required.
  25. Demonstrate self-motivation and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  26. Adapt to outdoor working conditions in various weather.
  27. Load railcars if applicable.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications:

  • Preferred 2 years of experience in grain operations.
  • Self-driven, ambitious, and capable of working under pressure.
  • Strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and leadership qualities.
  • Maintenance experience is advantageous.
  • Ability to obtain necessary licenses post-hire.
  • Reliable transportation for commuting.
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • 20/20 vision in both eyes, with corrective lenses if necessary.
