DEPARTMENT: Grain Operations
EEO Classification: Operative (semi-skilled)
Primary Objective: Ensure the safe and effective functioning of grain handling equipment and staff.
General Overview: Manage the receiving, shipping, monitoring, blending, conditioning, and quality of grain while ensuring equipment is maintained in working order, adhering to all company, state, and federal regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure compliance with safety standards through regular inspections and reporting of unsafe conditions.
- Adhere to all state and federal transportation regulations.
- Understand and implement all company policies and procedures.
- Operate all machinery and vehicles in accordance with company policies and local, state, and federal laws.
- Support the preventive maintenance program and document all activities.
- Assist in coordinating grain receiving operations and segregation.
- Oversee outside contractors and ensure proper documentation.
- Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of the facility grounds.
- Monitor temperature controls, fan usage, and grain storage to ensure high-quality inventory.
- Communicate daily with the facility manager regarding activities, goals, and needs.
- Lead initiatives related to grain quality, inventory management, and safety compliance.
- Document maintenance and housekeeping records accurately.
- Ensure the facility is well-maintained and operational.
- Understand inventory management and measurement processes.
- Work flexible hours, including potential overtime, to fulfill responsibilities.
- Assist in facility improvements and capital projects.
- Set and pursue personal and location-specific improvement goals.
- Foster teamwork and collaboration within the organization.
- Efficiently manage grain receiving and disbursement.
- Operate control rooms and grain dryers.
- Perform essential operations to maintain safe and efficient facility operations.
- Maintain the overall appearance of the facility, including buildings and grounds.
- Work effectively in a grain handling environment.
- Operate heavy machinery and equipment as required.
- Demonstrate self-motivation and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Adapt to outdoor working conditions in various weather.
- Load railcars if applicable.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Encourage team morale and commitment to achieving objectives.
- Exhibit sound judgment in decision-making.
- Maintain a positive demeanor towards customers and colleagues.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Report any injuries using the appropriate forms.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications:
- Preferred 2 years of experience in grain operations.
- Self-driven, ambitious, and capable of working under pressure.
- Strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and leadership qualities.
- Maintenance experience is advantageous.
- Ability to obtain necessary licenses post-hire.
- Reliable transportation for commuting.
- Valid state driver's license.
- 20/20 vision in both eyes, with corrective lenses if necessary.
