As a Counter Sales Associate at Airgas, you will be the face of our company, interacting with customers and providing exceptional service. Your primary responsibility will be to sell medical, industrial, and specialty gases, as well as welding equipment and hard goods and tools to customers.
Key Responsibilities:- Solicit sales from walk-in and telephone call-in customers, assisting them with identifying product needs and locating merchandise.
- Accurately complete and file all required paperwork on a timely basis, documenting sales, quotes, or other information.
- Enter sales and quote data into the computer and research information for customers using the computer system.
- Receive payment for merchandise or services sold and enter sale into the computer, adhering to all administrative and accounting-related procedures.
- Wrap and bag purchases and help customers load merchandise into their vehicles.
- Provide warehouse support for shipping and receiving, inventory stocking, cleaning, labeling, or other tasks.
- Restock store merchandise as needed, arranging stock on shelves or racks in sales areas and keeping merchandise in order.
- Follow all safety procedures, using established safety procedures for cylinder handling during exchanges and storage of cylinders.
- Maintain showroom cleanliness by procedures set forth by management.
- Maintain current price documentation and product literature as it becomes available, keeping product knowledge current.
- HS Diploma or equivalent required; Associates or Bachelors degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of previous product, warehouse, and/or sales-related experience and/or training (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Strong background in gas, welding, and safety supply industry with retail experience preferred.
- SAP experience strongly preferred.
- Prior welding experience preferred, such as knowledge in MIG, TIG, and STICK WELDING.
- Prior experience operating a forklift preferred.
- Intermediate knowledge of Google Suite applications.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrates a clear and effective speaking manner for the purpose of explaining information to customers and employees.
