Emergency Medical Technician

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Emergency Medical Technician to join our team at the Nassau County Police Department. As a Police Medic, you will be responsible for providing pre-hospital care to patients in emergency situations. This includes administering medications, performing advanced life support techniques, and coordinating patient care with hospital emergency departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to emergencies via the Nassau County 911 system
  • Provide pre-hospital care to patients, including IV therapy, defibrillation, and medication administration
  • Coordinate proper documentation of patient care and transfer of patient care to hospital emergency departments
  • Maintain and restock ambulances
  • Re-certify every three years as per NYS guidelines

Requirements:

  • Prior pre-hospital care experience is preferred and recommended
  • High School Diploma
  • Valid NYS Drivers License
  • Certification as a NYS EMT-CC or higher
  • Certification as a Nassau County ALS provider as per Nassau County credentialing process
  • Three years satisfactory experience as an operator of emergency vehicles

How to Apply: Applications can be picked up during office hours at the Nassau County Police Headquarters or at any of the eight NCPD precincts. Completed applications should be hand-delivered or mailed to the Applicant Investigation Unit.

Salary and Benefits: Appointment Salary Grade 12, Step OA - $38,479. The department offers a comprehensive benefits package, including contributory and non-contributory health plans, contributory pension plans, and tax-deferred savings plans.
