Radiation Therapist 2 PRN Position

About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Radiation Therapist 2 to join our Radiation Oncology team at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital. This PRN position requires a strong background in radiation therapy and the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and medical staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and medical staff to ensure accurate treatment modalities and protocols.
- Perform simulation procedures for initial patient set-up and verify proper functioning of linear accelerators, simulators, and Computed Tomography machines.
- Maintain accurate records of daily treatments and other required records.
- Ensure portal verification films are taken at appropriate intervals and recognize the need for adjustments in treatment ports.
- Prepare immobilization devices in accordance with physician prescriptions and position patients for initial definition of tumor volume.
- Document or capture patient measurements and machine treatment parameters for dosimetry planning and calculations.
- Acquire Computed Tomography machine data sets for patient positioning, contours, and set-up parameters.
- Attend department in-services, conferences, and meetings to stay up-to-date on new technology and techniques.
- Perform daily quality assurance on linear accelerators, simulators, and Computed Tomography machines to verify accurate output of designated parameters.
