Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the labor and delivery unit, including prenatal, postpartum, and newborn care.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care transitions.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.
- Conduct thorough assessments, identify potential complications, and implement interventions to prevent adverse outcomes.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure informed decision-making and optimal care outcomes.
- Participate in ongoing education and professional development to stay current with best practices and evidence-based guidelines.
- Current licensure in Minnesota to practice as a Registered Nurse.
- BLS Certification with a designation of either BLS Provider or Healthcare Provider from either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or Military Training Network.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification within one year of hire date (excluding approved leave of absence time) and maintained thereafter.
- STABLE education within one year of date of hire into position (excluding approved leave of absence time) and maintained every two years thereafter.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification within two years of date of hire into position (excluding approved leave of absence time) and maintained thereafter.
- Previous obstetric, neonatal, and/or pediatric nursing experience, including an internship or capstone and/or completion of NRP, Basic Fetal Monitoring, PALS, Maternal Child Health nursing-related certifications, and/or current Stable Class.
- Lactation Certification.
- Knowledge of current principles and techniques of nursing practice, including the nursing process and physical assessment.
- Ability to function as a team leader, primary nurse, and role model, accepting individual responsibility and accountability for decisions and outcomes.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish professional working relationships with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to recognize the legal limits of nursing practice and maintain professional competency through continuing education and independent study.
- Knowledge of maternal/fetal/newborn/pediatric high-risk situations and ability to initiate appropriate interventions.
- Ability to support Saint Luke's Hospital of Duluth's goals and objectives.
