Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Maternal Child Health team at Saint Luke's Hospital of Duluth. As a key member of our team, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to new mothers and their families.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the labor and delivery unit, including prenatal, postpartum, and newborn care.
  • Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care transitions.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Conduct thorough assessments, identify potential complications, and implement interventions to prevent adverse outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure informed decision-making and optimal care outcomes.
  • Participate in ongoing education and professional development to stay current with best practices and evidence-based guidelines.
Requirements
  • Current licensure in Minnesota to practice as a Registered Nurse.
  • BLS Certification with a designation of either BLS Provider or Healthcare Provider from either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or Military Training Network.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification within one year of hire date (excluding approved leave of absence time) and maintained thereafter.
  • STABLE education within one year of date of hire into position (excluding approved leave of absence time) and maintained every two years thereafter.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification within two years of date of hire into position (excluding approved leave of absence time) and maintained thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous obstetric, neonatal, and/or pediatric nursing experience, including an internship or capstone and/or completion of NRP, Basic Fetal Monitoring, PALS, Maternal Child Health nursing-related certifications, and/or current Stable Class.
  • Lactation Certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of current principles and techniques of nursing practice, including the nursing process and physical assessment.
  • Ability to function as a team leader, primary nurse, and role model, accepting individual responsibility and accountability for decisions and outcomes.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish professional working relationships with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to recognize the legal limits of nursing practice and maintain professional competency through continuing education and independent study.
  • Knowledge of maternal/fetal/newborn/pediatric high-risk situations and ability to initiate appropriate interventions.
  • Ability to support Saint Luke's Hospital of Duluth's goals and objectives.
