The Emergency Medical Technician plays a crucial role in delivering patient care tailored to the specific needs and urgency of each situation. This position involves providing care within the boundaries of state licensure and adhering to the approved skills and competencies required in emergency medical settings. The EMT is dedicated to creating a safe, supportive, and therapeutic atmosphere for both patients and their families while collaborating effectively with the healthcare team to achieve optimal outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and analyze blood and urine samples following established laboratory protocols.
- Engage in various patient care duties as assigned, ensuring high standards of service.
- Work under general supervision, accommodating various shifts and potentially exceeding 40 hours per week as needed.
- Remain available on-site during critical situations, including severe weather events and emergencies.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Paramedic Program.
- A minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare-related role.
- Current Paramedic Certification from the relevant health department.
- Certification in BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association.
- PALS certification from the American Heart Association to be obtained within the first 90 days of employment.
- CPI certification to be completed within 90 days of employment or transfer.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, families, and team members.
- Ability to collaborate efficiently with other healthcare professionals.
- Excellent organizational skills with the capacity to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and proficient use of technology in healthcare settings.
