Cardiovascular Technologist

Ottumwa Regional Health Center is seeking a skilled Cardiovascular Technologist to join our team in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to cardiac catheterization procedures, including preparing patients, operating angiographic equipment, and assisting cardiologists during procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Pre-procedure preparation: Ensure the suite is clean and prepared for procedures, including setting up sterile procedure trays and ensuring equipment is functioning properly.
- Assisting cardiologists: Assist cardiologists during diagnostic heart catheterization and peripheral vascular intervention procedures, including preparing patients and operating angiographic equipment.
- Post-procedure care: Achieve and maintain hemostasis of puncture sites, report any abnormalities to the physician and monitoring nurse, and recognize and report the need for assistance in case of an emergency.
- Equipment operation: Operate angiographic equipment, modify parameters as necessary, and record and announce intra-cardiac pressures and cardiac rhythms to physicians during procedures.
- Contrast media administration: Administer contrast media via IV cannula, arterial access catheter, venous access catheter, or drainage catheter per cardiologist's order and monitor patient response.
- Education: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification.
- Experience: Two years of prior experience with general vascular and/or coronary angiography preferred.
- Certification/License: Current Active Iowa RT(R) Licensure.
