The Sanitation Specialist is responsible for upholding cleanliness standards in alignment with operational protocols while adhering to all policies and guidelines set forth by the University of Richmond.
This role is vital in supporting the mission of the Facilities Department, which is dedicated to fostering an exceptional learning environment through attentive service to the community and meticulous care of the campus.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promotes safety across the campus by identifying and addressing potential hazards.
- Engages daily with a diverse group of staff, students, and faculty, ensuring a welcoming and positive environment.
- Preserves the historical significance and unique architecture of the University by striving to exceed cleanliness benchmarks.
- Cleans designated areas as instructed, adhering to established procedures.
- Participates in the collection and appropriate disposal of waste and recyclables.
- Takes responsibility for the maintenance and care of University-provided resources.
- Responds to and assists with custodial requests as needed.
WORKING HOURS:
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Available shifts include Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, or third shift from Sunday to Thursday from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM. All Facilities personnel are considered essential staff and may be required to work outside of regular hours during emergencies or planned overtime as directed by their supervisor.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be capable of lifting, pushing, and pulling weights up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods, navigate stairs, and walk for prolonged durations.
- Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, rain, and snow.
- Regular use of personal protective equipment is required to mitigate exposure to hazardous materials.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Effective communication skills are essential.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Previous experience in custodial services or a related field is advantageous.
SALARY STRUCTURE:
This position falls under Pay Grade 1, with a starting rate of $15.00 per hour.
