Description


The role of the Housing Coordinator for Veterans focuses on guiding all qualified participants of Supportive Services for Veterans & Families through the program, offering housing search assistance and supportive services aimed at fostering self-sufficiency, community integration, and long-term housing stability. This position entails managing administrative responsibilities related to the oversight and upkeep of a caseload of program participants.

The primary responsibilities are executed in both an office setting and within the community where program participants live.


This Housing Coordinator position is entirely funded by the VA through One80 Place's SSVF Program.

The Housing Coordinator will dedicate their efforts exclusively to Veterans and their families served by the SSVF Program.

One80 Place is committed to ending and preventing homelessness throughout the region, with a focus on providing essential services.

Requirements

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Support and embody the mission, vision, and values of One80 Place.
  • Exhibit a strong belief in and the capability to implement Housing First principles and strategies.
  • A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Human Services; relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in case management is necessary.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with proficiency in basic office software and the ability to learn and utilize the HMIS database.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a dynamic team environment.
  • Capability to effectively relate to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in data entry and basic skills in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the designated service area using a personal or company-provided vehicle.
  • Ability to maintain electronic client records accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail in administrative tasks.
  • A valid driver's license and successful completion of basic driver safety training are required.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Rapid Rehousing Activities

  • Engage clients in discussions regarding permanent housing options.
  • Facilitate the housing planning process by completing necessary assessments and intake forms.
  • Assist Veterans in obtaining required documentation for housing and employment.
  • Support Veterans in locating and securing their preferred housing.
  • Identify participant strengths and barriers to stability, assisting them in overcoming obstacles and connecting with necessary resources.
  • Ensure meticulous attention to detail on administrative forms for enrollment and eligibility determination for SSVF.
  • Administer temporary financial assistance by gathering required documentation for internal processing.

Housing Stability Case Management

  • Collaborate with Veteran households to develop a comprehensive housing stability plan addressing crisis needs and long-term goals.
  • Guide households in understanding the importance of adhering to lease agreements, including timely rental payments and unit care.
  • Regularly update progress, goals, and interventions as necessary.

Strength-Based & Housing First Case Management

  • Provide strengths-based case management and supportive services to Veteran households.
  • Conduct both office and in-home visits in accordance with the housing stability plan.
  • Document progress and referrals to permanent housing and community resources.
  • Adopt a proactive approach to case management, treating every housing opportunity with urgency.
  • Engage in diversion conversations to encourage clients to utilize available support networks.

Housing Counseling

  • Assist Veterans in creating budgets and identifying safe, affordable housing options based on their preferences and income.
  • Support Veterans in recognizing realistic housing alternatives.

Teamwork and Collaboration:

  • Foster collaboration with all One80 Place staff to create a cohesive team environment.
  • Participate in the coordinated entry process with partner agencies.
  • Engage in team discussions regarding client progress, contributing solutions for optimal support.
  • Actively participate in weekly team meetings and commit to collective decisions.
  • Attend professional development training sessions as scheduled.
  • Model effective teamwork behaviors.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills in building relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Maintain punctuality and professionalism, serving as a positive role model for clients.
  • Provide coverage for other case management staff as needed.
  • Collaborate with landlords and community organizations to ensure clients receive necessary support for maintaining permanent housing.
  • Effectively problem-solve independently or in collaboration with colleagues.
