Job Overview

Chipton-Ross Inc. is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician II to join their team in Warren, MI. As a key member of the maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of production equipment and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adequately train other technicians to ensure they are performing up to standard.
  • Assist the maintenance supervisor in identifying deficiencies in training and development for team members.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment and address good safety practices with team members.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are in working order and used in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Lead pre-production exercises, manage full-line rotation, and implement 5S practices.
  • Inspect and assess the functionality of production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical breakdowns.
  • Operate power hand tools and specialized electrical equipment.
  • Fabricate parts for repairs and machine upgrades.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and safety checks.
  • Communicate with the production team and maintain a clean work area.
  • Prepare and submit maintenance reports.
  • Assist the maintenance supervisor and engineering team as needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must not have any active Corrective Actions beyond Verbal Warning as of posting closing date.
  • Must be able to work overtime when necessary.
  • A working knowledge of JIT processes and JTDS is essential.
  • Some lifting of heavy objects is required (up to 30 lbs).

Communication Skills

  • The ability to accept constructive criticism in a positive fashion and demonstrate strong people skills while managing direct reports.
  • Must demonstrate respect and listening skills.
  • Prospective candidates should be well-versed in the company handbook and local bargaining agreement.

Physical Requirements

  • Some lifting of heavy objects is required (up to 30 lbs).

Education

  • Accredited Four (2-4) years of college or university program certificate in Mechatronics preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Accredited High School Diploma Required.

Work Hours

  • Full-Time, C-Crew FRI & SAT = 5:00 AM - 5:00 PM AND SUN & MON = 5:00 P - 5:00 AM
  • 40 hrs + OT as needed
