Job Overview

The role of a Laborer at Baker Commodities Inc. involves ensuring a hygienic, organized, and secure workspace while adhering to company standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport and manage materials within the plant yard based on work orders or verbal instructions
  • Operate forklifts, tractor trailers, and skip loaders within the facility
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas, machinery, and equipment throughout the plant
  • Load loose materials into hoppers or waste containers
  • Dispose of waste from the facility, including locker rooms, lunch areas, parking lots, and adjacent spaces
  • Sanitize cooking and processing equipment (such as cookers, augers, process tanks, and tankers)
  • Document cleaning and sanitation processes
  • Perform painting on equipment as required
  • Operate processing equipment as directed
  • Gain knowledge of CMPAF (Cattle Material Prohibited in Animal Feed) and APPI (Animal Protein Producers Industry) Material Procedures and documentation
  • Engage with colleagues in a professional and ethical manner
  • Adhere to departmental and company protocols
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality, which are crucial for the efficient operation of the business
  • Undertake additional tasks as necessary to support the effective functioning of the organization. Responsibilities may evolve as business needs change.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Forklift operation experience preferred
  • Experience in a production environment preferred
  • Ability to climb and work at heights
  • Capable of frequently lifting and moving up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 60 pounds
  • Minimal travel required (less than 5%)

Physical Requirements:

Constantly (over 2/3 of the time):

  • Transport materials weighing up to specified limits with or without specialized equipment
  • Navigate wet, slippery, and uneven surfaces
  • Position oneself to perform tasks around industrial equipment and hazardous materials

Frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time):

  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Ascend and descend heights while maintaining balance
  • Utilize tools such as shovels for material handling
  • Operate forklifts or other machinery while coordinating multiple limbs

Occasionally (under 1/3 of the time):

  • Identify and address conditions requiring attention, such as equipment maintenance or material relocation
  • Complete logs and reports both electronically and manually
  • Communicate with team members during task execution
