Job Title: Activities Assistant

Join The Oaks team as an Activities Assistant and contribute to creating a positive and engaging environment for our patients.

Job Summary

The Activities Assistant plays a vital role in planning, organizing, and implementing quality activities for patients, ensuring their recreational, physical, intellectual, spiritual, and social needs are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning and developing activity programs, including entertainment, exercise, relaxation, and education.
  • Chart patient progress and behavior in a descriptive and accurate manner.
  • Escort patients to and from activities and make regular in-room visits to those uninterested or unable to participate.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients.
  • Assist in the evacuation of patients and demonstrate dependable, regular attendance.
  • Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team.
  • Perform tasks that require sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, walking, reaching, and moving intermittently during working hours.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Prior experience with geriatrics is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license in the current state with a satisfactory driving record per Life Care standards.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in arts/crafts/music is preferred.
  • Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post-acute care facility.
  • Ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department.
  • Perform proficiently in all competency areas, including but not limited to: patient rights, and safety and sanitation.
  • Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
  • Understand and follow company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures.
  • Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care's Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training.
