Spurwink Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Professional to join our team. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in developing and delivering educational programming for students with significant emotional, behavioral, academic, and mental health needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with an educational and clinical team to design and implement individualized learning plans.
- Establish a culture of learning and respect in the classroom, fostering positive relationships with students.
- Develop and deliver assessment tools, create lesson plans, and write IEPs to support student growth.
- Coordinate with the clinical team to ensure comprehensive support for students.
- Supervise educational technicians and manage instructional responsibilities.
- Participate in TCI safety restraints, BHP, ISP, and IEP tracking, and other duties as required.
Requirements:
- Maine State certification as a Teacher of Exceptional Students (282) or Teacher of Students with Severe Intellectual and Associated Impairments (286), or eligibility for conditional certification.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and families.
- Experience working with students with emotional, behavioral, and academic challenges.
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
