Paraeducator Speech Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Paraeducator Speech Specialist to join our team at Ventura Unified School District. The successful candidate will provide authorized and appropriate services for students identified as having special needs in the area of speech and language communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in providing services for students with speech and language disorders
- Develop pre-language and language skills, oral-motor control for speech production, vocalization, and use of assistive technology devices for communication
- Work under the general supervision of the school principal or designee and daily direction of a certificated Speech/Language Pathologist
- Provide responsible paraprofessional instructional activities in support of the educational/training objectives of certificated staff
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of college (48 units) or pass the District's assessment that demonstrates knowledge and skills in assisting in instruction or pass the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST)
- Valid California driver's license
- Experience working with school-age children in an organized educational, health, child care, or other structured setting, including experience working with special education children
