Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse

Join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals at The University of Kansas Health System as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in our Ambulatory Clinic. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and promoting a positive patient experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate patient care through the nursing process, collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Administer medications, perform vital signs, and conduct screenings as ordered by physicians.
  • Assist with preparation of supplies and equipment, and aid physicians during examinations and treatments.
  • Ensure accurate and timely chart entries, and forward charts as necessary.
  • Coordinate scheduling of tests and treatments, and arrange referrals to specialists as directed.
  • Collect, document, and deliver lab specimens, and obtain lab results and reports as needed.
  • Notify patients of test results and follow-up appointments, and refer to RN/MD for patient education.
  • Review medications, treatment, and after-visit instructions with patients and families.
  • Respond to and screen telephone calls for referral to RN or physician.
  • Coordinate pre-visit planning by reviewing EMR to include patient history, and proactively order labs and tests based on approved clinic protocols.
  • Complete necessary forms, such as FMLA and DME, and obtain physician signatures as required.
Requirements:
  • Licensed Practical Nurse from an accredited college or university.
  • High School Graduate.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous medical office experience.
Required Certifications:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Multi-State - State Board of Nursing in the state (Kansas and/or Missouri) dependent upon work location.
