Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a key member of our imaging department, you will be responsible for performing advanced imaging procedures, including computed tomography (CT) scans, and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform CT scans and other advanced imaging procedures, ensuring high-quality images and patient safety.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and its application in spiral, helical, and multi-slice computed tomography.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and other clinical staff to interpret radiology requests, assess protocol, and ensure accurate and appropriate imaging procedures.
  • Apply infection control practices, radiation safety protocols, and aseptic techniques to minimize hazards and ensure patient safety.
  • Remain current with knowledge of imaging technology, procedures, and local policies, and participate in dose reduction and optimization processes.
  • Provide exceptional patient care, including explaining sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences.
Requirements
  • United States citizenship
  • Certification in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, Radiography (ARRT) (R)
  • Advanced ARRT certification in computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
  • Completion of a full-time training course in diagnostic radiologic technology, evidenced by a certificate or an associate degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT)
  • At least one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, directly related to the position being filled
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced imaging department, with frequent exposure to radiation and potentially hazardous materials. The selected candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team, and must be able to lift and move equipment as needed.
