Essential Tasks And Responsibilities

  • Maintain scheduled procedures efficiently. Welcome patients, complete assessments, and necessary paperwork for ordered procedures. Explain procedures and verify patient accuracy of tests ordered through ECIS, notifying the physician in the stress lab rotation if any changes or corrections are needed.
  • Prepare patients for ordered procedures and assist with Echo & Vascular studies as required. After completing the ordered tests, assist the physician and patient with any follow-up needed post-testing. Collaborate with other healthcare team members to address patient and family needs. Alert the physician assigned to the Stress lab regarding any abnormalities.
  • Complete all documentation associated with tests performed, including copying and faxing reports and placing completed charts in the appropriate location. Ensure compliance in respective clinical areas, including medical record documentation and clinical notes in ECIS, while maintaining patient privacy.
  • Follow through with physician orders, including patient education and maintaining educational materials, education and application of event and/or Holter monitors, scanning of Holter monitors (if cross-trained), performing venipuncture, and completing associated paperwork for lab through ECIS, as well as assisting with scheduling tests/procedures.
  • Provide physicians and/or patients with prescribed medication samples. Assist with ordering and stocking supplies and medications, maintaining a supply log with par levels for the lab, and ensuring timely ordering of supplies. Monitor medication levels used daily for testing purposes.
  • Maintain the crash cart, including checking the defibrillator, keeping a daily log, and documenting on the log. Track medication expiration and replacements. Manage O2 cylinders and supplies, ordering replacements as necessary.
  • Keep current skills checklist and assist in performing skills checklists on other employees. Identify and implement infection control and safety practices. Comply with OSHA regulations.
  • Complete a minimum of six hours of continuing education within the review year. Conduct at least one clinically related in-service for center staff during the review year.
  • Cross-train as necessary to perform basic radiological, laboratory, and other functions as required.
