UPMC Primary Care Frederick is looking for a Medical Assistant to enhance their healthcare delivery.
This role operates on a Monday to Friday schedule, with every fifth Saturday and one weeknight shift per week.
There is also an option for a 4-day work week.
The compensation for this role ranges from $17.38 to $26.69 based on experience.

Key Responsibilities:
The Medical Assistant will support physicians in various patient care activities, including clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks, ensuring high levels of patient satisfaction.
- Accompany patients to examination or procedure rooms.
- Assist patients with mobility, dressing, specimen collection, and preparation for examinations.
- Gather patient information and history, including taking vital signs and performing screenings as per provider guidelines.
- Communicate instructions to patients and their families.
- Manage patient medical records in compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.
- Obtain lab and x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information.
- Complete necessary forms and requisitions.
- Organize and maintain patient charts, ensuring information is accurately filed.
- Schedule appointments and verify insurance coverage and patient demographics.
- Prepare examination rooms and set up medical instruments and equipment according to departmental protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness and infection control by sanitizing exam rooms and equipment between patient visits.
- Oversee inventory management and restock supplies as needed.
- Coordinate patient flow and manage schedules effectively.
- Respond to phone inquiries and provide relevant patient education as directed.
- Perform clinical procedures in accordance with established policies.
- Assist with phlebotomy, EKGs, and basic laboratory tests.
- Administer injectable medications and vaccines under physician supervision when appropriate.
- Fulfill other front office duties as required.
- Adhere to system-wide competencies and behaviors.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Medical Assistant:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic, and treatment room responsibilities are essential.
Senior Medical Assistant:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program or equivalent hospital program (LPN/RN/EMT) or certification examination (AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, or NHA) or at least one year of patient care experience is required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in three specific practice category tasks is necessary.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic, and treatment room responsibilities are essential.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 31
- Act 33
- Act 73
