Key Responsibilities
  • Medication Preparation and Distribution
    • Fills and delivers medication orders for all age groups under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
    • Processes charges and credits for medications.
    • Compounds and repackages oral medications.
    • Documents and delivers controlled substances.
  • Customer Service and Communication
    • Answers and screens telephone calls and refers calls to a pharmacist when appropriate.
    • Provides excellent customer service to patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Quality and Safety
    • Compounds sterile preparations utilizing proper aseptic technique; follows USP 797 guidelines.
    • Compounds hazardous high-risk preparations utilizing proper aseptic technique; follows USP 800 guidelines.
    • Performs medication reconciliation for patients being admitted to the hospital.
  • Team Collaboration and Development
    • Trains and orients new teammates to department workflow and procedures.
    • Troubleshoots departmental equipment problems and drug distribution problems.
    • Solves problems independently and seeks additional support when required.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Pharmacy Technician Board Certificate is required and must be maintained.
  • 12 months prior Pharmacy Technician experience preferred.
  • Must be in good standing with the organization.
Work Environment

This role requires working primarily in the pharmacy, with frequent delivery of medications to nursing units. The successful candidate will be able to lift 25 pounds of material, push a mobile cart of 50 pounds maximum, and stand for long periods. The work environment involves rotating shifts and exposure to various conditions throughout the day.
