Optical Sales Consultant

Job Summary:

VSP Retail, Inc. is seeking a skilled Optical Sales Consultant to join our team. As an Optical Sales Consultant, you will be responsible for dispensing, fitting, and adjusting eyewear under the supervision of a licensed professional.

Key Responsibilities:

• Engage with patients to determine their reason for visit and provide exceptional customer service.
• Identify lifestyle needs and recommend eyewear products and services that meet individual vision care requirements.
• Measure patient for size of eyeglasses and coordinate frames with facial and eye measurements.
• Help patients with the selection of frames, lenses, and lens coatings to meet their needs, occupations, habits, and preferences.
• Fit and adapt lenses and frames for patient according to optical prescription.
• Prepare and submit a work order to the optical laboratory that includes instructions for the grinding and mounting of lenses in frames.
• Dispense eyewear and adjust frame and lens position to fit patient.
• Assist patients with inserting, removing, and caring for contact lenses.
• Instruct patients on correct eyeglass and contact lens care and maintenance.
• Clean and merchandise displays on a daily basis and ensure that patients have access to glasses by checking remaining inventory to restock empty displays.

Requirements:

• One year of experience in a related field; optical experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of MS Office package.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and rapport-building skills.
• Ability to ask appropriate and relevant questions to identify patient needs.
• Proven problem-solving, negotiations, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to listen, process transactions and interact with patients simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to provide enthusiastic and concise communication to meet and exceed patient expectations as well as foster positive relationships with team members.

Working Conditions:

The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.
