Job Summary

Coweta County is seeking a skilled Transportation Construction Inspector to join our team. As a key member of our Transportation and Engineering department, you will be responsible for ensuring that all phases of transportation and roadway construction projects meet Federal, State, and local regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect road construction and maintenance projects to ensure compliance with County and contractor standards.
  • Read and interpret construction plans, reviewing plans and specifications during construction.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of construction progress, including correspondence, drawings, job logs, payment schedules, and specifications.
  • Respond to questions and complaints from supervisors, subordinates, contractors, property owners, and government agencies.
  • Provide proper notification of deviations or errors and advise on corrective action.
  • Review completed work to develop status reports and prepare written and oral presentations to various groups.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED and demonstrated experience in construction work related to transportation and roadways.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction practices, techniques, materials, and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and blueprints.
  • Ability to detect errors in construction projects and maintain accurate records.
  • Valid driver's license in the State of Georgia with a favorable driving history.
  • Favorable background history as determined by review of Local, State, and Federal records.

Working Conditions:

This role requires frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force. Work is performed outdoors and may involve exposure to loud noises, fumes, and airborne particles.

Special Requirements:

Possession of Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission (GSWCC) Level IB certification upon hire.
