Job Summary

The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for coordinating, directing, and managing the daily activities of the pharmacy department. This includes supervising pharmacy technicians, monitoring staff performance, and ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plans, coordinates, and directs all clinical activities, including supervision of refilling machines, medical prescriptions database entries, and dispatch of medicines.
  • Implements process and procedures to comply with regulations for medicine handling, including reception and storage of medicines, inventory and expenses controls.
  • Manages day-to-day activities of the pharmacy technicians and monitors their performance to meet departmental goals.
  • Provides pharmaceutical care to patients as a staff pharmacist.
  • Assesses and maintains pharmacy inventory and executes necessary orders, including reviews, to maintain optimal supply and ongoing availability of drugs.
  • Leads processes for hiring of pharmacy staff, onboarding, and performance management, including leadership of competency evaluations process and documentation.
  • Manages internal workflows of acute pharmacy, including optimization of staffing and scheduling to maintain best-in-class and streamlined pharmacy operations.
  • Participates in meetings and provides insight to hospital committees to ensure coordination among cross-functional groups.
Requirements
  • Must be a licensed Pharmacist in the state of Wisconsin.
  • Inpatient/hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
  • IV experience preferred.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and lead all aspects of pharmacy operation.
  • Ability to see, hear, write, and speak clearly in order to communicate with customers and health care professionals.
  • Excellent planning, organizing, and leadership skills.
  • Strong customer orientation and negotiation skills.
  • Pressure to perform in emergency situations.
  • Overall decision-making responsibility.
  • Ability to work on call or be in an on-call rotation.
