Job Summary

Job Corps is seeking a highly skilled Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. As a Substance Abuse Counselor (TEAP SPECIALIST) LCDC, you will play a critical role in supporting the mental health and well-being of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of students to identify substance abuse issues and develop personalized intervention plans.
  • Develop and implement prevention programs and groups to educate students on the risks of substance abuse.
  • Provide counseling and relapse prevention services to students struggling with addiction.
  • Network with center staff and community agencies to provide support services to students.
  • Participate in departmental systems for student feedback and concerns.
  • Assist in developing center operating procedures for program components.
  • Collaborate with the Center Mental Health Consultant, Center Physician, and Health Services staff to ensure intervention components are fully integrated.
  • Work with the Recreation Department to develop leisure activities and incentives to reinforce healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Act as liaison to the Center Mental Health Consultant and Center Standards Officer for substance abuse issues.
  • Perform quality assurance record audits and maintain statistics for quarterly reporting.
  • Ensure collection and handling of sensitive information comply with chain of custody procedures.
  • Support the Center Tobacco Use Prevention Program through education and training.

Requirements:

  • LCDC certification
  • Experience working with substance abuse populations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
