Job Summary:

CenTrak is seeking a Senior Sustaining Hardware Engineer III to join our Engineering team in Newtown, PA. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background, be innovative, curious, detail-oriented, and a good communicator with management skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all phases of the development process, from concept, design, documentation through production release for new products and support of existing products.
  • Reads embedded software projects and understands how to apply concepts to solve engineering and field issues.
  • Analyzes hardware failures, defects, and customer-reported issues to determine their root causes.
  • Develops and executes plans to address identified hardware issues, including design modifications and process improvements.
  • Updates existing hardware designs to enhance performance, reliability, or manufacturability without affecting the product's core functionality.
  • Identifies and qualifies replacement components for obsolete parts to ensure continuous production and support.
  • Collaborates with manufacturing teams to resolve production issues, improve yield rates, and optimize assembly processes.
  • Assists field service teams in troubleshooting and resolving hardware problems encountered by customers.
  • Ensures that hardware products continue to comply with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Updates and maintains engineering documentation, including schematics, bills of materials, and change notices.
  • Works closely with design engineers, quality assurance, supply chain, and suppliers to address hardware-related challenges.
  • Provides technical guidance to internal teams and, when necessary, to customers regarding hardware issues and best practices.
  • Identifying opportunities to streamline processes, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
  • Plans and conducts tests to validate hardware changes and ensure they meet specified requirements.
  • Evaluates the potential impact of changes on existing products and implements strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Communicates with customers to understand issues, provide updates, and ensure satisfaction with hardware performance.
  • Coordinates with suppliers to resolve component issues and ensure the quality of sourced parts.
  • Other duties as requested.

Qualifications:

Professional Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Masters is a plus

Minimum of 6-10 years of hardware experience

Required Skills:

Experience in the design of analog, RF, digital, micro-controller circuits

Experience of Ethernet, wireless, and Internet protocols and tools

Experience supporting product development from conception to execution.

Embedded programming skills

Strong problem-solving skills

Ability to collaborate in a team setting

Helpful, but not required:

Hardware design for wearable devices and/or low voltage electronics is a plus

Experience with C, C++ is a plus

Experience with IR, low-frequency, sensor technologies are a plus
