Job Title: Chassis Assembler

GreenPower Motor Company is seeking a skilled Chassis Assembler to join our team in West Virginia. As a Chassis Assembler, you will be responsible for installing mechanical components and ensuring proper operation of drive train, mechanical, and chassis assemblies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install drive train, mechanical, and chassis assemblies, parts, and components per work instructions.
  • Familiarize yourself with truck air systems, including airline routing, air bags, brake valves, leveling valves, and more.
  • Follow verbal and written task directives to ensure efficient and accurate work.
  • Ensure proper operation of all drive train, mechanical, and chassis assemblies, parts, and components.
  • Troubleshoot and assist with corrective measures as needed due to engineering or design issues.
  • Continuously self-inspect during work shifts and analyze opportunities for progressive improvement.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment and optimize space utilization.
  • Communicate and cooperate with supervisors and coworkers to achieve team goals.
  • Operate and preventively maintain warehouse vehicles and equipment.
  • Adhere to quality service standards and comply with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of related experience.
  • Basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills to understand written and verbal work instructions.
  • Skilled in operating basic hand tools, shop tools, and equipment.
  • Competent in using measuring devices to stay within required tolerances.
  • Knowledge of drive train, mechanical, and chassis components and parts, adhering to industry standards for proper mechanical operations.
  • Ability to quickly learn processes, adapt to process changes, and implement those changes.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, procedures, and machinery.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Manufacturing and/or automotive experience preferred.
  • Willingness to travel if required.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of standing.
  • Required to walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and crawl.
  • Regularly lift and move up to 10 lbs.; frequently lift and move up to 30 lbs.; occasionally lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to see and adjust visual focus both up-close and at a distance; position requires peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to see and distinguish colors.

Work Environment:
  • Exposure to high levels of noise.
  • Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment, including eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, and hardhats.
  • Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
  • Position may operate a motor vehicle and work outdoors.

Qualified candidates for the West Virginia position will receive on-the-job training and be required to attend education and training classes at BridgeValley Community & Technical College.

Compensation for this position will be in the range of $18 to $20 per hour. Qualified candidates will generally work a 40-hour work week, working four, 10-hour shifts.
