Job Description:

Zurich North America is currently seeking a seasoned actuary to lead and manage our Commercial Auto Pricing team. This senior actuarial role will provide strategic insights for the Commercial Auto Portfolio.

The Technical Underwriting, Commercial Auto Pricing team is responsible for delivering the Auto product pricing, which represents over one billion dollars of premium annually for Zurich North America. The team collaborates closely with other Actuarial teams as well as Commercial Auto Product Management and Market Facing Underwriting teams to support achievement of Zurich's financial objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Partner with Business Unit Actuarial, Underwriting, and Reserving functions to drive business growth and profitability.
  • Develop and implement detailed pricing analysis, including rate development, rating plans, and portfolio management strategies.
  • Manage and deliver trend analyses, loss development factors, and parameter updates related to periodic loss ratio studies for tool updates.
  • Provide input into the Technical Virtuous Circle for Auto portfolios.
  • Collaborate with actuarial, statistical, and IT functions to support current pricing tools.
  • Lead the development and implementation of pricing tools and monitoring, including knowledge of underlying data sources, dependencies, and Power BI.
  • Establish and maintain governance and monitoring frameworks.
  • Support Virtuous Circle and AvE meetings across the organization.
  • Contribute to rate filing support, including formal indications and evaluation of pricing levels.
  • Maintain excellent communication and collaboration within and between teams.
  • Participate in Finance and Underwriting decision processes, providing independent challenge as part of decision-making.
  • Lead, manage, and mentor actuarial staff, including Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and performance appraisals.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and 10 or more years of experience in Actuarial roles, plus FCAS or equivalent international certification.
  • Bachelor's degree and 15 or more years of experience in Actuarial roles, plus ACAS or equivalent international certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in Commercial Auto pricing and risk management.
  • Proven expertise in multiple functional areas, including pricing, reserving, and capital management.
  • Proficiency in pricing studies, rate indications, trend studies, and parameter analysis.
  • Knowledge of pricing tools, including development, deployment, and post-implementation monitoring.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to share technical results and recommendations to diverse audiences.
  • Leadership experience in managing and mentoring actuarial teams.
  • Technical knowledge and leadership skills.
  • Strong execution, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Solution-oriented, collaborative, and conflict resolution experience.
  • Executive presence, with the ability to interact across all organizational levels.
  • A track record of fostering business improvement and driving change in complex insurance environments.

Compensation for this role varies based on factors such as office location, skill set, and level of experience. The estimated salary range for this position is $168,400 - $275,800.
