About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Electronic Security Systems Specialist to join our team at Salt Lake City Airport. As an Electronic Security Systems Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our airport operations.

Under the general supervision of a technical systems program manager or maintenance superintendent, you will assist in the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of electronic and security-related programs. Your expertise will be vital in performing skilled technician work, including the service, repair, alteration, installation, and maintenance of security systems in an aviation environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing service and installation of access control, intrusion alarm, security entrance devices, fire systems, and other various security/life safety systems.
  • Responding to emergency situations during and after hours (including holidays) for the purpose of resolving immediate security and life safety concerns.
  • Aligning, adjusting, repairing, maintaining, and calibrating delicate instruments and equipment according to manufacturers' and departmental specifications.
  • Evaluating, diagnosing, troubleshooting systems, and performing repairs as necessary.
  • Assisting in the development of training programs for other employees.
  • Performing upgrades and additions to systems in order to increase functionality, usability, and reliability.
  • Coordinating with administration and other trades for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently.
  • Preparing documentation in a variety of written and electronic formats (e.g., daily paperwork/log, time and materials, key and material records, key inventory, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support in compliance with TSR 1542 and other federal regulations and/or conveying information.
  • Providing input for the development and implementation of preventive maintenance schedules for assigned electronics systems. Providing preventive maintenance services for the hardware component of various electronics systems.
  • Maintaining associated records and inventories. Preparing specifications for repair parts, replacement instruments, and test equipment for assigned areas, and may recommend budgeting for these items.
  • Compiling specifications and making recommendations for ordering repair components, replacement instruments, sensors, and test equipment.
  • Performing a variety of highly skilled mechanical, locksmith, electrical, and electronic work at the journey level.
  • Understanding, interpreting, and controlling a great grand master key system. Implementing work for the airport, airlines, and complying with federal regulations.

Requirements include:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in Electronics or a closely related field plus one (1) year paid experience in the operation of a computerized process control, communications, security system, or similar systems. Education and experience may be substituted one for the other on a year-for-year basis.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex and/or technical sketches, drawings, blueprints, work requests, and various project documents as required to perform assigned tasks.
  • Ability to interact effectively with supervisors, co-workers, Airport tenants, and employees, operators, department support staff, suppliers, and the general public.
  • Possession of a valid state driver's license or Utah driving privilege card.

Preferred qualifications include previous paid experience installing, servicing, and maintaining access control, security systems, or life safety systems in similar high-security environments.

We offer a competitive hourly range of $30.89 - $36.04 based on qualifications and experience. This position is eligible for full city benefits, including health insurance, dental, vision, and life insurance, paid vacation and personal leave, six weeks of paid parental leave from day 1 of employment, retirement contributions toward a pension plan and/or 401(k), a robust Employee Assistance Plan (EAP), up to $4,000 tuition reimbursement annually, and discounted supplemental benefits like pet insurance and legal services.
