CLASSIFICATION: Regular, Full-time, Non-Exempt

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

The Adult Education Facilitator is tasked with delivering skill enhancement and GED instruction to participants in the YouthBuild initiative and individuals re-entering the community. This role involves close collaboration with the STEM Technical Instructor to facilitate certification training and practical projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Design and execute lesson plans tailored for developmental education for participants in pre-GED, GED, and college preparatory programs.
  2. Provide documented evidence of preparation as necessary.
  3. Deliver subject matter through diverse formats suitable for participants at various academic levels.
  4. Incorporate full-class, small group, and individual instruction within lessons.
  5. Instruct on digital literacy skills essential for achieving the GED and pursuing further education and training.
  6. Work in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team to engage in service-learning activities.
  7. Coordinate volunteer tutors and online practice assessments to bolster participant success on the GED examination.
  8. Support certification acquisition for Digital Literacy and Manufacturing.
  9. Create curriculum or lesson plans for certifications and practical skills development activities.
  10. Assist participants in transitioning to post-secondary education or vocational certification.
  11. Evaluate and enhance study methods and habits for participants.
  12. Assess participant progress through various evaluation methods.
  13. Guide participants in preparing professional portfolios and utilizing digital platforms.
  14. Apply Restorative Justice Principles to address participant challenges.
  15. Foster a welcoming and productive classroom atmosphere.
  16. Enforce discipline in accordance with program policies.
  17. Safeguard participants, equipment, and facilities.
  18. Maintain precise attendance records.
  19. Communicate effectively with participants, guardians, and colleagues.
  20. Exhibit current knowledge and skills in educational strategies.
  21. Engage in professional development opportunities.
  22. Show initiative and interest in ongoing professional growth.
  23. Adhere to state and organizational regulations and policies.
  24. Conduct data entry and grant-related tasks associated with GED.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION: Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years of relevant experience working with youth and young adults from diverse backgrounds.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in a related discipline with four years of experience preferred.

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION: Valid Texas Teacher's Certification, Bilingual preferred.

KNOWLEDGE: Proficient in computer applications, English language structure, and curriculum development.

SKILLS: Effective teaching, identifying educational needs, and employing instructional methodologies.

ABILITIES: Clear communication, reasoning, coaching, and effective interaction.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

HEARING: Able to hear conversations and receive information.

TALKING: Ability to speak clearly and convey important instructions.

VISION: Capable of seeing details at varying distances.
