CLASSIFICATION: Regular, Full-time, Non-Exempt
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The Adult Education Facilitator is tasked with delivering skill enhancement and GED instruction to participants in the YouthBuild initiative and individuals re-entering the community. This role involves close collaboration with the STEM Technical Instructor to facilitate certification training and practical projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and execute lesson plans tailored for developmental education for participants in pre-GED, GED, and college preparatory programs.
- Provide documented evidence of preparation as necessary.
- Deliver subject matter through diverse formats suitable for participants at various academic levels.
- Incorporate full-class, small group, and individual instruction within lessons.
- Instruct on digital literacy skills essential for achieving the GED and pursuing further education and training.
- Work in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team to engage in service-learning activities.
- Coordinate volunteer tutors and online practice assessments to bolster participant success on the GED examination.
- Support certification acquisition for Digital Literacy and Manufacturing.
- Create curriculum or lesson plans for certifications and practical skills development activities.
- Assist participants in transitioning to post-secondary education or vocational certification.
- Evaluate and enhance study methods and habits for participants.
- Assess participant progress through various evaluation methods.
- Guide participants in preparing professional portfolios and utilizing digital platforms.
- Apply Restorative Justice Principles to address participant challenges.
- Foster a welcoming and productive classroom atmosphere.
- Enforce discipline in accordance with program policies.
- Safeguard participants, equipment, and facilities.
- Maintain precise attendance records.
- Communicate effectively with participants, guardians, and colleagues.
- Exhibit current knowledge and skills in educational strategies.
- Engage in professional development opportunities.
- Show initiative and interest in ongoing professional growth.
- Adhere to state and organizational regulations and policies.
- Conduct data entry and grant-related tasks associated with GED.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION: Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years of relevant experience working with youth and young adults from diverse backgrounds.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in a related discipline with four years of experience preferred.
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION: Valid Texas Teacher's Certification, Bilingual preferred.
KNOWLEDGE: Proficient in computer applications, English language structure, and curriculum development.
SKILLS: Effective teaching, identifying educational needs, and employing instructional methodologies.
ABILITIES: Clear communication, reasoning, coaching, and effective interaction.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
HEARING: Able to hear conversations and receive information.
TALKING: Ability to speak clearly and convey important instructions.
VISION: Capable of seeing details at varying distances.
FLEXIBILITY: Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach.
REPETITIVE MOTIONS: Involves walking, talking, and regular hand movements.
PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry objects.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: In-person, indoors.
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, 40-hour workweek, with occasional weekends or after hours.
TRAVEL: Travel to service sites and professional conferences may be required.
