Position Overview

The mission of Beaufort Yacht & Sailing Club Inc is to cultivate seamanship abilities in all participants of our programs and to ensure a secure, enjoyable, and educational environment for the community.


Our organization offers a Summer Sailing Camp tailored for youth aged 8 to 16 years. The curriculum encompasses a range of topics from fundamental sailing techniques and seamanship to introductory racing skills.


Key Qualifications for the Chief Sailing Educator role include:
- An adult candidate over the age of 18 with relevant sailing and boating expertise.
- Preferred possession of a Level I, II, or III US Sailing Certification, though not mandatory.
- A professional demeanor that aligns with the values, mission, and educational framework of our organization.
- Ability to work under the guidance of the Sailing Director.
- Responsibilities include delivering sailing instruction to camp attendees, aiding in boat maintenance, and managing equipment inventory.
- Proficiency in basic rigging, understanding of boat components, on-water and land-based sailing instruction, powerboat operation, and introductory racing strategies.
- Experience engaging with youth aged 8 to 16.
- Background in a leadership capacity within a summer camp setting.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Valid SC Safe Boater's License or equivalent.
- Completion of Safe Sport Training.

Core Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with the Sailing Director to lead the Summer Sailing Camp program.
- Ensuring a safe and positive learning atmosphere both on the water and on land.
- Executing the curriculum established by the Sailing Director.

Compensation Structure:

This position is hourly for a duration of 7 weeks, offering competitive compensation ranging from $16 to $20 per hour, based on experience. Housing options may be available.
